The heliocentric Model replaced the Geocentric model because Copernicus did more research on the starts and sun mapping out the position and in return concluded that the sun is actually the center of the solar system and not the Earth( which is what the Geocentric model had stated) therefore proving his theory correct and replacing the Geocentric model.
